When we talk about decorative painting, we often think of decorations in castles and churches. We think of painted decorations as classic, adorning timeless places, and therefore not relevant to our interior renovation projects for flats and houses. However, decorations created by a painter are accessible to anyone who loves interior design, allowing us to personalise our living spaces. A decorative painter will sometimes use their art to help you choose the colours for a simple patina, sometimes they will guide you towards decorative materials to embellish a bland wall, or they will tempt you with a painting on canvas to mount in a bedroom, hallway or living room, like wallpaper… but rich in the vibrancy and nuances of an artist’s painting.
We rarely decorate ceilings… when we decide to renovate or create a new décor in our homes, we almost always focus on the walls. The ceiling is almost always repainted white. And that’s such a shame. When you decorate a ceiling, it shows! It blends in with the rest of the room and opens up the space. Painting a sky on the ceiling opens up the room to another dimension, the outdoors. In these times of lockdown, nothing could be truer than the happiness brought by the sight of a sky in our living space.
We have painted ceilings not only in pubs and restaurants, but also in private homes for people who want to treat themselves, depicting birds, clouds and skies in their own colours as a reminder of their favourite places.
There are endless skies to paint: exotic skies with palm trees, sunsets, sunrises, clouds just before a storm and just after. Skies with birds, architecture, plants…
Once the mock-up has been completed, it must be approved by the customer. We can then proceed to paint the sky on canvas or directly onto the ceiling. Oil paint, acrylic paint, mixed media…
